Tyler Posey is no stranger to the horror genre. He faced off with Bratzis in Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers, had a role in the killer Mickey Mouse movie Screamboat, dealt with a zombie outbreak in Alone, appeared on Scream: The TV Series, played Truth or Dare, and – for 100 episodes and a movie – starred in Teen Wolf. Now, Posey is set to make his feature directorial debut… and yes, his first directorial effort is going to be a horror thriller. Deadline reports that Posey is taking the helm of a “horror thriller with comedic elements” called Sober House, which is expected to start filming in the Los Angeles area in early 2026.
Posey will also star in and produce the film, and wrote the screenplay with John Ahle Kellar. The story follows three addicts who, after their best friend’s overdose, join a secluded mountain sober house to get clean — only to discover the program’s most committed attendee is a recovering serial killer who’s relapsing in his own way. Posey will be producing through his new company Pocket Full of Posey Entertainment while Keli Price will produce under his Price Productions banner.
Posey provided the following statement: “Sober House is years in the making and hits close to home. Finally partnering with Keli whose work ethic, passion, love and kindness matches what I like to bring to a project. My approach is to highlight the grounded buddy comedy tone, inspired by the American Pie days, and flipping that on its head in a way that is familiar and new at the same time.” Price, who previously worked with Posey on the drama Death of a Brewer, added, “We’re thrilled to take this journey with Tyler and John and continue our working relationship and friendship. It’s exciting to see Tyler take these next steps behind the camera, and we believe this film will really showcase the multifaceted talent that he is. We’re excited for audiences to dive into the world we’ve created.“
While Posey pushes Sober House toward production, he has also let it be known that he’s eager to continue the Teen Wolf franchise and has even written the script for another Teen Wolf movie. While we wait to see if he’ll be able to make that happen, we have this serial killer horror thriller to look forward to.
