President Donald Trump participated in a Diwali celebration in the Oval Office of the White House.
Trump asked FBI Director Kash Patel, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and others to speak during the event.
“Diwali is a timeless reminder of light’s victory over darkness,” Trump said in a prepared statement.
Diwali, derived from the word “Deepavali,” meaning “a row of lights,” is typically celebrated by socializing and exchanging gifts, according to the Associated Press. The dates of the festival are based on the Hindu lunar calendar, typically falling in late October or early November.
Trump took questions from reporters after the Diwali celebration. He spoke about the postponed meeting with Putin, the Gaza peace deal, the shutdown, and more.
