Many on Wall Street are expecting 2024’s market momentum, particularly the post-election rally tied to President-elect Donald Trump’s victory, to carry into the new year. AlphaSimplex Chief Research Strategist and Portfolio Manager Katy Kaminski joins Seana Smith and Brad Smith to discuss some of these themes and broad sector trades that could push equity markets (^DJI, ^IXIC, ^GSPC) to new heights. “Momentum signals have been continually increasing across equity sectors and across equity indices, particularly in the US versus non US trade. So we’ve really seen sort of really resilient and steady equity signals,” Kaminski says. “But the one thing we have been watching to some degree is this relative difference between small cap and tech and large cap. And what you have seen last week was a little bit more narrow, so I think people should actually pay attention to that.”
