Spot ether ETFs began trading Tuesday, but are facing pressures in their second day. ETF Expert Dave Nadig joins Wealth! to discuss this trading debut.
Nadig describes ethereum (ETH-USD) and bitcoin (BTC-USD) as “two sides of the same crypto investor coin.” While he believes bitcoin will always be perceived as “digital gold,” he suggests the ether ETF may offer diversification opportunities for investors: “It does give you access to very, very different parts of the crypto market.”
Regarding the muted price reaction within ethereum, Nadig points to a “sell the news” dynamic occurring in the markets. He also notes that while approximately $107 million was invested in the spot ether ETFs, nearly $87 million in outflows occurred from bitcoin ETFs. “Is that money selling bitcoin to buy eth? I think there’s a reasonable chance that’s true,” Nadig speculates.
