Japanese electronics giant Sony Pictures is utilizing its alliance with the layer-2 network Soneium to distribute free NFTs for a new blockbuster movie.

Soneium revealed in a tweet that the NFT will be launched on its network, just like in Sony’s past campaigns. The free digital collectibles are part of an ongoing promotional campaign for the movie S.W.A.T. and an undisclosed new blockbuster.

This collaboration is Sony’s third with Soneium, and it comes with several perks. In addition to the free NFTs, Sony is offering exclusive revival screenings and digital trading cards for S.W.A.T. and the new blockbuster.

The first benefit of the campaign is free digital collectibles. They are based on movie projects owned by Sony Pictures and are available to anyone who downloads the Sony Bank Connect app and links to SNFT. The second, which is the exclusive revival screening, is open to only 20 groups of 40 people. These individuals will be selected via a lottery from those who meet specific criteria.

While Sony Pictures began the promotional campaign on October 1, the screening is scheduled for December 5 at the Sony Pictures Screening Room Toranomon in Tokyo. The company will announce the movies to be screened on October 17.

The collection period for the NFTs and digital trading cards is October 1 to November 17. Users can collect trading cards for both S.W.A.T. and the new blockbuster.

Sony’s new campaign comes barely two weeks after the company unveiled movie-themed NFTs for the films 28 Days Later and Twisted Metal. The NFTs also commemorated the first anniversary of Sony Bank Connect. The firm’s new approach to movie campaigns — giving away movie-themed NFTs and digital collectibles — shows just how far it has grown in the Web3 space.
