The Japanese electronics giant Sony has once again partnered with the Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution Soneium to release movie-themed NFTs. The collaboration involves other Sony affiliates, including the digital financial services firm Sony Bank and Sony’s NFT platform SNFT.
According to a tweet by Soneium, the NFT collection to be launched will offer numerous perks, including access to exclusive events for the new Sony movies. The movies include 28 Days Later and Twisted Metal.
The NFTs are part of Sony’s second campaign for the movies, as well as a commemoration of the first anniversary of Sony Bank Connect. Sony Bank Connect is Sony’s mobile app for the Web3 entertainment sector, which connects SNFT to the target audience.
Sony launched this campaign to offer digital content distribution and invitations to revival screenings. The campaign offers three benefits, with the first being the NFTs, which have been available to anyone since September 1. The second perk is tickets to a revival screening of 28 Days Later to 20 pairs of 40 people who meet specific criteria during the campaign. Some of the requirements include downloading the Sony Bank Connect app and linking to NFTs. The screening is scheduled for November 7.
In addition to Sony’s NFTs, Soneium revealed that users can also receive exclusive NFT trading cards featuring Twisted Metal and 28 Years Later.
“These aren’t your average NFTs – they’re powered by Soneium’s scalable infrastructure, giving you that premium experience with security and smooth-as-butter transactions. This is just the beginning of Hollywood × Web3 magic, and we’re here for ALL of it,” Soneium tweeted.
The latest development comes roughly seven months after Sony unveiled its first NFT collection on Soneium. The electronics giant launched non-tradeable digital collectibles of Aibo, its 26-year-old robotic dog product line. Released as soul-bound tokens, the robotic dog mimics canine traits such as demonstrating multiple tricks, listening, and responding to commands.
Notably, Sony has remained keen on staying active in the NFT space. The company introduced digital birth certificates for pictures early last year. It also deployed music NFTs in collaboration with the Web3 record label Coop Records seven months ago.
Meanwhile, the third benefit of Sony’s ongoing campaign has yet to be announced, so it is essential that you stay tuned for further updates. Additionally, Sony is working on further collaborations with Soneium, so the company is likely to release additional NFT collections in the coming weeks.
