Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced more federal funding for Helene recovery, while touring damages in North Carolina. During a short briefing Duffy said that North Carolina and Tennessee has not been forgotten. Hurricane Helene was a catastrophic tropical cyclone that caused extensive damage and loss of life in the southeastern United States in September 2024.Helene killed at least 232 people, making it one of the deadliest hurricanes in modern U.S. history.
