It’s been a roller coaster of a 2025-26 season thus far for quarterback Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals (2-4).
A 2-0 start was four seconds away from becoming 3-0 before San Francisco 49ers kicker Eddy Pineiro hit a game-winning field goal, which appears to have changed the trajectory of the Cardinals’ season.
From that point forward, it’s been ugly in Arizona. It culminated with Murray suffering a foot injury that sidelined him for Week 6, which turned out to be the team’s fourth consecutive loss, this time to the Indianapolis Colts.
Despite not having their franchise quarterback, the Cardinals put up a strong fight on the road against the AFC South-leading Colts, dropping a 31-27 battle. It was interesting to see the team rally around backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who had the best statistical passing game this season for Arizona (27-of-44, 320 yards, two touchdowns and one interception).
Seeing Brissett come in and run the offense so seamlessly, and quite frankly, better than Murray has this year, raised concerns regarding the 2019 first overall pick’s level of play.
With that in mind, insider Mike Florio recently shared his thoughts on Murray’s future as a Cardinal, or whether there even is one, during the latest episode of “Pro Football Talk.”
