Rory McIlroy has spoken out following rumors about his wife, Erica Stoll.
After winning the Masters Championship earlier this month, the famed golfer traveled across the pond to celebrate with his parents. Numerous outlets reported that McIlroy traveled with his 4-year-old daughter, Poppy, but that his wife didn’t make the trip.
Now, McIlroy is telling the world that you shouldn’t always believe what you read. Despite the media publishing photos of McIlroy with Poppy — and without Stoll — the whole family was actually together.
“We first went to London with Erica and Poppy to see our new home that we’re building and we made the trip over to Belfast to see a few other people that are important to us,” McIlroy told reporters on April 23, according to Us Weekly. “Just to be with them, to be with Erica and Poppy and my mom and dad.”
All eyes have been on McIlroy and his wife since the golfer filed for divorce in May 2024. The two ended up working out their differences, however, and called off their split shortly thereafter.
“There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate,” McIlroy told The Guardian at the time. “Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
McIlroy will be joined by best pal Shane Lowry at this weekend’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The guys will be defending their title as the 2024 winners of the partner tournament.
