Morning Brief anchor Julie Hyman breaks down the latest market news for October 3, 2025.
President Trump is considering a bailout for farmers. Reports say the president will provide at least $10 billion in aid to struggling farmers. The main beneficiaries of the bailout will be soybean farmers, who have been hit hard by Trump’s tariffs. China has completely stopped purchasing soybeans, which are the main export to China.
Citi economist Veronica Clark, Interactive Brokers chief strategist Steve Sosnick, and Annex Wealth Management chief economist Brian Jacobsen all join the show to discuss what’s driving markets despite the government shutdown delaying the release of September’s jobs data.
Julie speaks with Maya Macguineas, President of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, to discuss the need for lawmakers to balance the budget. She says government shutdowns “are a huge waste of money.”
