President Donald Trump spoke to reporters after an American Airlines plane collided with a Black Hawk helicopter. No survivors were found after the jet collided. Trump pointed to previous administrations’ for implementing DEI in the FAA.
Trump said the DC plane crash cause was unclear at this time. The U.S. military and the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the scene.
The president appointed Chris Rocheleau, a 22-year FAA Veteran, to serve as acting commissioner to Federal Aviation Administration.
During the news conference Trump said, ““The FAA is actively recruiting workers who suffer severe intellectual disabilities, psychiatric problems, and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website.”
Trump wrote previously on Truth Social: ““I have been fully briefed on the terrible accident which just took place at Reagan National Airport. May God Bless their souls,” he said on Truth Social. “Thank you for the incredible work being done by our first responders. I am monitoring the situation and will provide more details as they arise.”
