Max Holloway is hoping to beat Charles Oliveira at his own game by submitting the feared grappler in their BMF title showdown at UFC 316. Suffice it to say, fans are divided on the idea.
When the pair locked horns for the first time in 2015, ‘Blessed’ came out on top, securing a first-round TKO win as Oliveira suffered an esophagus injury. After ‘do Bronx’ defeated Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Rio, the Brazilian took aim at Holloway, calling for a grudge match.
The UFC obliged, and they are set to face each other on March 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Holloway not only aims to secure another decisive victory, but he also wants to do it in true BMF fashion.
During a recent segment on his YouTube channel, Holloway said:

“My coaches are probably going to kill me when they see this and hear me saying, you know. A BMF thing to do in this fight would be to submit a submission artist. That would be pretty BMF, but at the end of the day, never say never, you know. If your boy drops some submissions here and there, and I get one, who’s to say what happens? That’s a pretty BMF moment, to submit a submission artist.”

Holloway’s bold ambitions, however, have caused some concerns among fight fans, with an overwhelming majority predicting things to go south for ‘Blessed’ if he follows through with his plan to grapple with Oliveira.

“Pump the brakes Maxy, lmfao you ain’t submitting Charles ever.”

Max Holloway dubs Charles Oliveira a “well-rounded fighter”
As he gears up for his UFC 326 bout against Charles Oliveira, Max Holloway has no delusions about his opponent’s skill set. While ‘do Bronx’ is primarily known for his jiu-jitsu skills, Holloway believes the Brazilian is much more than just a grappler.
During the aforementioned video, the Hawaiian argued that Oliveira is as well-rounded as they come and far from just a jiu-jitsu grappler that the fandom and fighting community has portrayed him as:
“Everybody keeps talking about his jiu-jitsu, jiu-jitsu this, jiu-jitsu that. Go watch his tape back, bro. He’s hurting guys on the feet, you know. He’s hurting them with his boxing. He’s hurt them with kicks, hurt them with knees, hurt them with elbows here. He’s hurting them in the clinch. The guy is a well-rounded fighter.” [4:45 mark of the video]
