Speaking on Behind The Turnbuckle Studios’ The Coach and Bro Show, the couple details how the company handled their contract situation. During this, Kross revealed that a representative tried underhanded tactics and wanted to inform the higher-ups that the couple rejected the offer.

While the real-life couple wanted to keep an open discussion, the representative didn’t and wanted to misinform his peers when the couple asked to discuss it further. Moreover, Scarlett stated that the tactics used were very strategic, and Kross added that it was very gross on the company’s behalf.

“We know what’s going on. And if the conversation is not going to proceed fairly, then we’ll just say, ‘Hey, we’d like to keep dialogue open. We’re not saying no, but we’d like to keep the dialogue open. We’d like to further discuss this. At one point, the guy was like, ‘Well, we’re going to tell them that you declined the offer,’ and I said, ‘Don’t do that because that’s not what I did.’ Don’t put words in my mouth. Don’t tell them that I declined the offer… The whole conversation felt strategic and very gross,” Kross said.

Karrion Kross reacts to popular WWE couple’s new gimmick

After Karrion Kross and Scarlett left the promotion on their own terms, the company must’ve scrapped or changed a few storylines, which were originally supposed to involve the couple. In the coming months, Zelina Vega aligned with her real-life husband, Aleister Black, on Friday Night SmackDown when he was in a feud with Damian Priest.

Many fans and veterans pointed out the similarities the popular couple had with Karrion Kross and Scarlett. In an appearance on K100 with Konnan and Disco Inferno, Kross reacted to the couple’s new WWE gimmick and stated he and his partner were flattered that fans still think highly of them as performers. However, he didn’t take any shots at Black and Vega for having any resemblance.

The two-time WWE NXT Champion lost a one-on-one match to Sami Zayn at WWE SummerSlam 2025, which marked his and his wife’s final appearance for the company. It’ll be interesting to see what’s next for the real-life couple in the coming months.
