According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at 5:36 AM IST at a depth of 5 km. The epicenter was located 9 km east of Faridabad.

Reports from various locations highlighted the impact of the tremors. At New Delhi railway station, a vendor named Anish described the chaotic scene: “Everything was shaking… customers started screaming.” Another passenger in the station’s waiting lounge said, “I was in the lounge, and everyone rushed out. It felt as if some bridge had collapsed.”

In Ghaziabad, a resident recounted, “The tremors were so strong. I have never felt like this before. The entire building was shaking.”

PM Modi calls for calm and precaution

Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to the earthquake by urging residents of Delhi and nearby areas to stay calm and follow safety protocols. He also advised vigilance for potential aftershocks.In a post on X, the Prime Minister stated:
