Delhi police traffic advisory:  As the BJP’s pick, Rekha Gupta, is set to be sworn in as Delhi’s chief minister today at Ramlila Maidan, Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory highlighting key diversions and restrictions to ensure smooth movement across the capital.

The ceremony, scheduled for 12 pm, will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP chief ministers, and several dignitaries. Around 50,000 attendees are expected at the venue.  

Traffic restrictions and diversions

Delhi Police has advised commuters to avoid the following roads and surrounding areas from 7 am to 4 pm today:  

– BSZ Marg (ITO to Delhi Gate)  – JLN Marg (Delhi Gate to Guru Nanak Chowk)  – Aruna Asaf Ali Road  – Minto Road to Kamla Market to Hamdard Chowk  – Ranjeet Singh Flyover to Turkman Gate  – Ajmeri Gate to Round About Kamla Market  

Key diversion points include:  

– Raj Ghat  – Subhash Park T-Point  – Delhi Gate  – ITO  – Ajmeri Gate  – Ranjeet Singh Flyover  – Bhavbhuti Marg – DDU Marg Red Light  – Round About Jhandewalan 

Delhi CM oath-taking ceremony: Security arrangements in place: 

Over 25,000 security personnel, including 15 companies of paramilitary forces, have been deployed across Delhi. Around 5,000 police and paramilitary personnel are stationed at Ramlila Maidan, with AI-based facial recognition CCTV cameras monitoring the venue. Snipers, commandos, quick reaction teams, PCR vans, and SWAT units are also on alert.  

Only authorised individuals will be allowed near the venue, and motorists are advised to follow traffic updates from Delhi Traffic Police’s official handle on X (@dtptraffic).
