Bharti Airtel Q1 FY26 Earnings: New Delhi-headquartered Bharti Airtel on Tuesday staged a strong financial performance for the April-June period, with its net profit meeting Street expectations. Its consolidated net profit came in at Rs 5,947.9 crore for the quarter ended June 30, translating to a 46.0 per cent sequential fall. The adjusted net profit grew 3.0 per cent to Rs 7,165 crore.
The telecom company said its earnings were driven by a strong domestic performance and a rebound in its operations in Africa.
The telecom service provider’s June-quarter revenue grew 3.3 per cent to Rs 49,462.6 crore, from Rs 47,876.2 crore for the previous three months, according to a regulatory filing.
The top as well as the bottom lines were along expected lines.
According to Zee Business research, Bharti Airtel was estimated to register a net profit of Rs 6,024 crore with Rs 48,740 crore in revenue for the June quarter.
The company’s India unit clinched Rs 37,585 crore in revenue, marking a quarter-on-quarter rise of 2.3 per cent backed by improved mobile realisations and a strong momentum in its homes business, said the telecom firm.
How did Bharti Airtel perform operationally?
Bharti Airtel’s operating profit grew to Rs 27,839 crore from Rs 27,009 crore in the previous quarter.
Its margin — a key measure of profitability — stood at 56.28 per cent, versus 56.41 per cent for the March quarter. That was almost along expected lines.
Zee Business analysts had estimated Airtel’s margin at 56.3 per cent.
Bharti Airtel subscriptions and average revenue per user
The private sector telecom firm registered an improvement of Rs 5, or 2.0 per cent, in its average revenue per user, to Rs 250 compared with the previous quarter.
According to Zee Business research, the telecom firm’s first-quarter ARPU was pegged at Rs 248.
ARPU or average revenue per user is an important metric that determines the average amount of money a telecom service provider earns from each subscriber or user. It is a key measure of a telecom company’s sales.
The improvement in ARPU came as its subscriptions increased 2.5 per cent to 60.55 crore. Meanwhile, the company’s smartphone data subscriber base increased by 3.9 million sequentially, accounting for 77 per cent of its overall mobile customer base.

The telecom operator’s domestic mobile services business saw 2.9 per cent growth in revenue to Rs 27,396.6 crore, contributing nearly 50 per cent to its overall revenue.
Revenue from the African mobile services operations increased 6.2 per cent to Rs 12,083.4 crore. The unit accounted for 21.9 per cent of overall sales.

Bharti Airtel shares
Earlier on Tuesday, Bharti Airtel shares rose by Rs 14.7, or 0.8 per cent, to close at Rs 1,929.8 apiece on BSE, outperforming a 308.5-point decline in headline index Sensex.
