We are learning more after President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States was talking with a “respected” Iranian leader. He also claimed the Islamic Republic was eager for a deal to end the Iran war. This comes as the Associated Press says President Trump told reporters on Monday that Iran wants “to make a deal,” and asserts U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner spoke with an Iranian leader this weekend. During the weekend, President Trump said the United States. would “obliterate” Iran’s power plants unless the country releases its stranglehold on the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of all traded oil passes, within 48 hours.
