Morikawa slips up on 18 but remains in contention at the Masters
Hatton on 16… Hates it, swivels around and storms back to his bad. It’s not *that* bad, it twirls away from the hole and back down towards the bunker, a long birdie try coming up.
That’ll irritate the No.4 player in the world, Morikawa bogeys 18 and slips back to -3 for the tournament.
Leaderboard: (-8): Rose; (-7) DeChambeau, Hatton; (-6): McIlroy, Conners; (-5): Lowry, Scheffler, McCarty, Day

Hatton surges into tie for second at Masters in second round
Hatton crushes his approach to 15 and looks set to join DeChambeau imminently at -7…
Yes, Hatton taps in, that’s lovely work and three more holes to draw level with his Ryder Cup teammate Rose.
Scheffler continues to have an odd day, a putt offline and without the requisite weight, now a tester on 16 to avoid any damage.
Spieth is +2 with two holes remaining, he needs to be careful.
Niemann at +1 heading down the 18th, a disappointing major again for the LIV star.

Scheffler unable to convert on 15, remains two behind lead at Masters
“The wind on the back nine was no joke,” says Michael Kim on X. “It didn’t swirl as much but it was really strong. On 15 yesterday, I went for the green with a 4i, today I layed up with a 4i.”
Just a par for Scheffler on 15, a let-off for his rivals you could say.
Thomas on 15 with a birdie chance… Nope, he’ll stay at E and 28th.
Day leaks one out to the right, it’ll be an awkward angle for the Aussie on 17. Morikawa in the second cut but fine as he looks to finish off the round on 18.
Dunlap, fresh from a 90 (+18), he misses par on 18, he slips to +17 overall for the tournament, a round of 71 (-1) is a credit to him.
It’s the second largest improvement from the first to second round in Masters history.

Scheffler closes in on Rose in second round of Masters
A rather strange day for Scheffler, with his last three holes epitomising it.
He found the flowers on 12, met Rae’s Creek on 13, now a birdie on 14, but he played the three holes in two-under. Now perfectly set up for a four-hole stretch to get closer to Rose and perhaps even tie him for the lead at the half-way stage.
Reed still rolling and makes a tricky par putt on 18, a round of 70 and he’s just five back at -3 overall. Steady from the former champion.
Now then, Scheffler, on 15 and in the bunker, it lacks any run and he’s got a good 25 feet left…

Scheffler in prime position on 15 after settling in second round of Masters
Day might just have repeated Mickelson’s error… Wait, it stays there, by an inch of turn, get up there and mark it, Jason!
Scheffler with a booming drive on 15, now -6 and charging towards Dechambeau and Rose.
They’re queueing up to force their way into the penultimate group tomorrow.

Hatton pulls one with his drive on 14, that’ll leave him in a spot of bother.
Mickelson, +1, spins a wedge into 15 and the backspin rips the ball back into the water, disaster! It could spell trouble in his bid to beat the cut.
Thomas with a birdie and back to E!

Scheffler survives to maintain momentum in Masters second round
My goodness, Scottie Scheffler is experiencing it all today, he tumbles into the creek on 13, big trouble ahead.
McIntyre at the 16th, he pulls it right and it nestles between the bunkers. A poor shot and in trouble. +3 for the Scot and he cannot afford any more mistakes if he wants to make the weekend.
Thomas bogeys 13, he’s back to +1 and his bid is fading away.
Scheffler with a short putt for par… Makes it, no damage done there.
Leaderboard: (-8): Rose; (-7) DeChambeau; (-6): McIlroy, Conners; (-5): Lowry, McCarty, Day, Scheffler, Hatton

Bernhard Langer waits in hope of creating Masters history
What a story, Langer is in the clubhouse at +3, a round of 73, it might be his final walk at the Masters.
Fred Couples holds the record at 63 years old, but Langer is now 67 in the battle to become the oldest player to make the cut in Masters history.
“European golf, what we did in the 80s, he was a huge part of that, he was my partner,” says Sir Nick Faldo. “They were good times.”
Now the German waits to see if the cut moves to +3.
Mickelson saves par at 13, rattling one in to stay at +1. He’s not done here.
Leaderboard: (-8): Rose; (-7) DeChambeau; (-6): McIlroy, Conners; (-5): Lowry, McCarty, Day, Scheffler, Hatton
