Manchester United have announced the sale of academy graduate Hannibal Mejbri to Burnley.

The midfielder joined the Red Devils as a teenager from AS Monaco in 2019 and managed to break into the first-team setup, going on to make 13 appearances at senior level.

But Hannibal’s time at United has come to an end, with a permanent move to Burnley confirmed on Wednesday. The final fee could reach £9m if all add-ons are met, while there is a significant sell-on clause in the deal.

The Clarets are busy rebuilding after being relegated from the Premier League last season and are among the favourites for promotion from the Championship under new manager Scott Parker.

Hannibal told Burnley club channels: “I’m very excited. Very happy to be here and I can’t wait to see the fans. I have played against Burnley before at Turf Moor and the atmosphere was amazing.

“After speaking to the coach, the project sounded good to me and hopefully we can make success.”

Hannibal made his way into Erik ten Hag’s United plans towards the start of the 2023/24 season amid the first-team’s injury crisis. He played ten times that term before joining La Liga side Sevilla on loan for the second half of the campaign, but he made only six appearances during his short time in southern Spain.

United are expected to confirm the departure of fellow midfielder and academy graduate Scott McTominay in the coming days, with a move to Napoli nearing completion. In terms of incomings, United are wrapping up the signing of Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte.

Manchester United have officially parted ways with one of their promising academy graduates, Hannibal Mejbri, as the talented midfielder has completed a move to Burnley. The transfer marks the end of Hannibal’s tenure at Old Trafford, where he made significant strides in his development since joining from AS Monaco in 2019. After breaking into the first-team setup, Hannibal managed to make 13 appearances for the Red Devils before his departure.

Burnley, who are looking to strengthen their squad following relegation from the Premier League last season, have secured the services of Hannibal Mejbri in a deal that could potentially reach £9m with add-ons. Additionally, the agreement includes a notable sell-on clause, highlighting the potential for further financial benefits for Manchester United in the future.

Under the leadership of new manager Scott Parker, Burnley are aiming to bounce back from their relegation and compete for promotion from the Championship. The acquisition of Hannibal Mejbri is expected to bolster their midfield options and add quality to the squad as they pursue their goal of returning to the Premier League.

Expressing his excitement about the move, Hannibal shared his thoughts with Burnley club channels, stating, “I’m very excited. Very happy to be here and I can’t wait to see the fans. I have played against Burnley before at Turf Moor and the atmosphere was amazing.” He also expressed his optimism about the project at Burnley and his desire to contribute to the team’s success under the guidance of the coach.

Hannibal’s journey at Manchester United saw him earn a place in Erik ten Hag’s plans during the 2023/24 season, particularly during an injury crisis within the first-team. Despite showing promise, Hannibal had a brief loan spell at Sevilla in La Liga, where he made a limited number of appearances before returning to Old Trafford.

As Hannibal departs, Manchester United are in the process of finalizing the transfer of another midfielder, Scott McTominay, with a move to Napoli on the horizon. In addition, the club is close to completing the signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain as they continue to reshape their squad for the upcoming season.
