LINE NEXT Inc., in collaboration with the Kaia DLT Foundation, announced the launch of Mini Dapps and a dedicated Dapp Portal, accessible directly through LINE Messenger, in the first quarter of 2025. Notably, this initiative aims to expand access to Web3 services by integrating decentralized apps (Dapps) into one of Asia’s largest messaging platforms.
The launch follows the successful first round of the Kaia Wave program, which selected 30 projects out of 800 applicants. The program, jointly created by LINE NEXT and Kaia, supports global Web3 developers looking to build on the Kaia blockchain. Through this partnership, users in LINE’s major markets—Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan—will gain streamlined access to Web3 services and applications within their existing messaging platform.
“LINE NEXT has been aiming to increase access to Web3 services from the perspective of both Internet and Web3 users and developers,” said Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEXT. “We plan to introduce the largest number of Web3 Dapps and expand our user base.”
Upcoming Mini DApps
Among the selected projects is Bombie, developed by Pluto Studio, which previously attracted 43 million users within six months. Other highlights include Shin-chan’s Match Daily, a game inspired by the popular animated series Crayon Shin-chan, and Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS-, based on the renowned Captain Tsubasa soccer manga. Additionally, projects like Heroic Arena, an immersive multiplayer game, and Superz, a healthcare-focused Dapp, reflect the program’s diversity in gaming and wellness applications.
Notedly, Kaia Wave provides developers with a robust support system, including software development kits (SDKs), fee delegation, marketing initiatives, and access to investment opportunities. With these resources, teams will create and link their Mini Dapps to LINE Messenger or launch them on the Dapp Portal, a platform that allows users to discover, engage with, and trade assets seamlessly.
Dr Sam Seo, Chairman of the Kaia DLT Foundation, emphasized the platform’s user-centric approach. “Kaia has been committed to creating a highly accessible Web3 ecosystem. We are excited to provide such a convenient Web3 service platform within LINE Messenger,” he said.
The Dapp Portal will serve as a central hub for discovering Mini Dapps, rewarding user engagement, and facilitating digital asset trading. By integrating Web3 services into LINE Messenger, LINE NEXT aims to remove common barriers to blockchain adoption, such as accessibility and complexity.
With its user base of over 250 million across LINE and Kakao messengers, the Kaia blockchain is positioned to drive significant Web3 adoption across Asia. LINE NEXT and Kaia plan to onboard more than 150 additional teams in the first half of 2025, with further rounds expected to follow.
For context, the Kaia-powered Mini Dapps mark a step toward mainstream adoption of Web3 services, combining blockchain technology with the accessibility and convenience of existing Web2 platforms.
