Lala Kent just owned up to editing photos of her daughter! WHAT THE HECK??
On Saturday, the Vanderpump Rules alum took to her Instagram Story to confirm she has been editing her 3-year-old daughter Ocean‘s two front teeth after an injury. While sharing a close-up, unedited video of the kiddo smiling, she explained:
“I’m usually the type to not read/ignore comments. But we are from Utah honey. We are teeth people! so I could not let this comment slide”
It’s unclear exactly what comment she was talking about, but under a previous post from the weekend, fans wondered if Ocean was suffering from “bottle rot,” AKA baby bottle tooth decay, which can happen to babies and toddlers when they’re frequently exposed to sugary drinks.

In a photo of Ocean, her two front teeth appeared to be grey, causing the line of questioning. See (below, slide 11):
Back in her Story, the reality star explained this has nothing to do with rotting teeth — but that Ocean had sustained an injury that has resulted in some lingering issues. She shared:
“Ocean has a fond relationship with her wild side and enjoys not listening. She fell off her bike face first. There is trauma to the root of her two front teeth (yes, I’m the mom who usually edits this. Go ahead and judge). The rot isn’t dead, but we go to the dentist every 3-6 months for check-ins. They will likely have to be pulled or she will have to have a root canal.”
Oh, no. The poor thing!! What a stressful situation!
But editing her appearance?! Is that really sending the right message? Nobody loves to deal with injuries like this, but Ocean is at an impressionable age. Whitening her teeth, even just for social media, sends the signal that there’s something wrong — that her teeth aren’t normal or pretty enough. Not exactly the mindset you want to be instilling, especially since right now! Ocean’s totally fine with how she looks, you only risk giving her a complex by communicating to her she’s not! Lala added in her post:
“Ocean thinks they are ‘cool’”
Well then, maybe don’t edit them?? She’s cute as can be and perfect as she is, no matter what her teeth look like. We get dealing with fans’ comments about the private issue might be frustrating, but let the little girl be who she is! What happens when she sees the photos and realizes her mom has been “fixing” her appearance?? That’s how body image issues can begin. Just saying.
