Hamas announced Sunday that it won’t take part in ceasefire and hostage deal talks that were slated for this week. The group rejected an invitation by the U.S., Qatar and Egypt, saying it “will not allow any negotiations.” Meantime, the Middle East remains on edge as Iran has vowed retaliation on Israel following the recent assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh. According to Axios, Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant spoke Sunday with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and told him the Iranian military preparations suggest Iran is getting ready for a large-scale attack that could come within days.
