Hyundai has officially unveiled its four-wheeled autonomous robot developed for both industrial and daily use. The multi-purpose robot named MobED will be available for sale next year.

Hyundai has officially introduced its autonomous robot, developed for both industrial and daily use, moving its robotics goals into the production phase.

Developed by the company’s Robotics Laboratory, the four-wheeled compact machine is known as MobED (Mobile Eccentric Droid). The robot was recently exhibited at the 2025 International Robot Exhibition (iREX 2025) in Tokyo. First shown at the CES event in Las Vegas in 2022, MobED has now been made ready for mass production.

What are MobED’s capabilities? Featuring AI-supported route planning and obstacle detection, the robot utilizes a combination of LiDAR and cameras to perceive its surroundings. Furthermore, thanks to its modular structure, it can be adapted for many tasks ranging from delivery and logistics to research, media work, and carrying golf equipment.

Hyundai states that the robot is developed to work smoothly in both narrow indoor corridors and uneven outdoor terrains. The main reason for this is the eccentric control mechanism that actively adjusts the robot’s height and posture. In practice, this system ensures MobED stays balanced on slopes, dampens uneven surfaces, and maintains stability even when carrying heavy loads. Additionally, each wheel contains Hyundai’s Drive-and-Life (DnL) components, which combine driving, steering, and height adjustment into a single compact module.

The company announced that the platform will go on sale in two versions: the Basic and the Professional model. The Professional version will feature fully autonomous AI, LiDAR-camera fusion, advanced sensors, and a “follow me” mode for logistics, delivery, or inspection workers. In contrast, the basic model does not include ready-made autonomy software. This version is stated to appeal more to researchers and developers who want to develop their own applications.

According to the company, the MobED Pro model has a width of 75 cm, a length of 115 cm, and a height of 65 cm. The Basic model is designed to maintain the same width and length but with a lower height of approximately 43 cm. Both robots can carry a load between 47 and 57 kilograms.

In addition to these, the robot is powered by a 1.47 kWh capacity battery offering at least 4 hours of operation. The battery can charge from 10 percent to 90 percent in under 2.5 hours.

It is stated that commercial sales of MobED will begin in the first half of 2026.
