This year is proving to be an active one for Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West (now going by Ye). Having made several problematic statements in recent years, he issued a public apology in January for his past offensive remarks. Additionally, to kick off 2026, he announced that a new album would be dropping and he would be performing at a few select concert dates.
Fast forward to the week of March 27, and West released his 12th studio album, Bully. In the early days since its release, there have been a number of music reviewers and West fans claiming the album sounds like vintage West. And while the jury remains out on whether or not the project will do big numbers in its debut week, the “Monster” artist is revealing what inspired its title.

West sat down for a recent interview and was asked point-blank, “Why the title Bully?” The “Gold Digger” artist wasted no time in responding with a quick anecdote. He replied:
“My son was playing with some kid, and then, he kicked him. And I asked my son, ‘why you do that?’ He said, ‘Cause he’s weak.’ And I was like [laughing], this man is really a bully right here.”
For those needing a little more clarity, West is referring to the oldest son Saint, whom he shares with ex-wife Kim Kardashian. At 10 years old, it sounds like young Saint was just partaking in some childhood play, which turned on a lightbulb for his father. Saint West is also the cover art for his father’s new album.

Kanye Joins Other Rap Legends Dropping New Projects
2026 is looking like a big win for millennials who loved hip-hop growing up, as popular rappers from the late 90s and early 2000s are making a resurgence with new music. Both T.I. and Juvenile have managed to storm the Billboard charts with their respective hit songs “Let Em Know” and “B.B.B.” Additionally, T.I. is slated to release a new album sometime this year, while Juvenile’s new album, Boiling Point, is out right now.
Also, it should be mentioned that Snoop Dogg is joining the number. His new album, 10 Til’ Midnight, debuts on April 10, while the music film of the same name is already available to watch on YouTube.
