Google unveiled a range of new Pixel devices at its recent Made By Google event. In addition to the hardware announcements, the tech giant also showcased new artificial intelligence (AI) features for its Gemini chatbot. One of the most significant upgrades was Gemini Live, which introduced voice capabilities to the chatbot, allowing users to engage in voice conversations with the AI.
Gemini Live Rolled Out By Google
During the event, Google introduced Gemini Live as a mobile conversational experience. This feature enables Gemini to engage in natural conversations with voice modulations and emotions, making the AI’s responses more human-like. Users will have the option to choose from 10 different voices, each with its unique energy level, pitch, and tonality.
According to a blog post by Google, Gemini Live will offer a hands-free experience, allowing users to interact with the AI even when the device is locked. The feature aims to provide a seamless conversational experience, similar to being on a regular phone call.
This new mode allows users to provide context, ask follow-up questions, and interrupt or pause conversations with the AI, enhancing the overall interaction experience. The functionality of Gemini Live is comparable to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode. While Google offers more voice options and a higher context window, both features are still in the early stages of deployment.
Google announced that Gemini Live is now rolling out to Gemini Advanced subscribers on Android devices. Initially available only in English, the company plans to expand language support and introduce it to iOS devices in the near future. The Gemini Advanced subscription is part of the Google One AI Premium plan, priced at Rs. 1,950 per month.
