David Goyer, the filmmaker with credits for screenwriting the Blade trilogy, Apple’s Foundation TV Series and Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight has announced a new blockchain-based science fiction universe, Emergence to be built on his new blockchain platform Incention.
According to the report by CoinDesk, the Web3 sci-fi universe features spaceships, relic hunting and white holes, and will allow fans to participate in character creation alongside professional storytellers.

“The idea is that we’re going to involve the community in all of this, and they’ll have an opportunity to create characters who will be joining the podcast, joining the animation, etc.,” Goyer told CoinDesk at Consensus Toronto in a panel featuring Story Protocol’s SLY Lee.
Story Protocol is one of the companies building IP-focused blockchains to bring intellectual property rights to the world of Web3, and is where both Incention and Emergence are based.
“Each intellectual property has its own program, licensing and royalty-sharing rights,” Lee explained on Friday. “Without any middleman, someone can remix, license, and basically build upon someone else’s IP,” adding that given the rules set by the IP owner, “they could share the upside together.”
