HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania (Reuters) – Billionaire Elon Musk made a bold promise on Saturday – to give away $1 million each day until November’s election to someone who signs his online petition supporting the U.S. Constitution.
True to his word, Musk awarded a $1 million check to John Dreher, an unsuspecting attendee at his event in Pennsylvania aimed at rallying support behind Republican Donald Trump.
“By the way, John had no idea. So anyway, you’re welcome,” Musk chuckled as he handed over the check.
This generous gesture is just the latest example of Musk using his vast wealth to influence the hotly-contested presidential race between Trump and his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris.
Musk established America PAC, a political action organization backing Trump’s re-election campaign. The group has been instrumental in mobilizing and registering voters in battleground states, although there have been challenges in meeting its targets.
The Harrisburg event marked the third consecutive one in Pennsylvania, where Musk is painting a dramatic picture of November’s election and encouraging supporters to vote early and rally others to do the same.
He warned that if Harris emerges victorious, it could spell the end of the U.S., stating that it would be “the last election.” Musk also suggested that the two assassination attempts on Trump indicate his ability to disrupt the norm, compared to Harris. He argued that no one is targeting Harris because “assassinating a puppet is worthless,” a sentiment he has expressed on social media.
The petition Musk is urging people to sign declares support for the First and Second Amendments, which protect freedom of speech and the right to bear arms.
Attendees at the event were required to sign the petition, enabling America PAC to gather contact information for potential voters to mobilize support for Trump at the polls.
Forbes ranks Musk as the world’s wealthiest individual, and he has already contributed at least $75 million to America PAC, according to federal disclosures, making the organization a critical component of Trump’s re-election strategy.
The visionary behind Tesla and SpaceX has shown increasing support for Republican causes and has publicly endorsed Trump this year. In return, Trump has indicated that if re-elected, he would appoint Musk to lead a government efficiency commission.
As the election draws closer, Musk continues to play a significant role in shaping the political landscape, pushing for increased voter participation and support for Trump.
Conclusion: Elon Musk’s remarkable philanthropic gesture of giving away $1 million each day is a notable effort to rally support behind Donald Trump and promote the values enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. Through America PAC, Musk is channeling his immense wealth to influence the outcome of the upcoming election, portraying stark contrasts between the candidates and urging voters to take action. As the political landscape intensifies, Musk’s involvement underscores his commitment to shaping the future of American politics.
