The son of the former supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has reportedly been named as his successor, according to Iranian state television. This comes after reports that indicate Mojtaba Khamenei has been selected as Iran’s new leader. According to Chief National Security reporter for Reuters, Phil Stewart, “A senior Iranian cleric involved in the vote to choose a new supreme leader indicated Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s son Mojtaba would be his successor, although a formal announcement was awaited, after Israel threatened whoever was chosen.”
This comment reportedly comes from Ayatollah Hosseinali Eshkevari, a member of the Assembly of Experts, as expectations grow around Mojtaba Khamenei’s future as a leader. We are also hearing from Sen. Lindsay Graham of South Carolina. He told Sunday Morning Futures host Maria Bartiromo that the U.S. was going to “blow the hell out of these people” when asked about the future of Iran.
