We are now learning that Dan Bongino, the FBI Deputy Director, will step aside and leave his current position next month. Bongino made the announcement on Wednesday, ending a brief tenure as the bureau’s No. 2 official. President Donald Trump has indicated that he remains confident in FBI Director Kash Patel.
The move comes after President Trump previously signaled that Bongino intends to leave his position soon. Asked Wednesday about the FBI Deputy Director, Trump said, “Dan did a great job. I think he wants to go back to his show,” referring to Bongino’s prior career as a podcaster. In a post on social media, Bongino said, “I will be leaving my position with the FBI in January. I want to thank President Trump, AG Bondi, and Director Patel for the opportunity to serve with purpose.”
