Food Network fans are shocked and saddened by the unexpected death of popular chef Anne Burrell, who made a name for herself by mentoring the “Worst Cooks in America.”
Any health issues were not publicly known, and her cause of death has not been released. In fact, Burrell posted several final photos to her Instagram page just five days before she died at age 55 on June 17.
Her posts were joyful and gave no indication that anything was wrong.
The star was found unresponsive in her Brooklyn, NY, home and could not be revived, according to TMZ.
Five days before her death, she posted a photo on the street with a woman and wrote, “I ran into @greenladyofbrooklyn in my neighborhood today!! I’m not going to lie- I have been keeping an eye out for her. I may or may not have followed her down the street for a minute. She is just lovely!!! #ilovewhatido #luckygirl 💚💚💚”
That same day, she was tagged in a photo showing her in a kitchen with another chef. That photo was also posted to her Instagram page.
“Great time eating @cheffalkner Mexican inspired dishes @sohohouse #onenightonlydinner by @thebillyharris bumped into some old friends including @chefanneburrell who made my night reminiscing about Brooklyn. Thanks Billy!!! #chefslife #realcooks,” the post says.
Burrell posted her own photo from that event, writing, “A delicious and delightful evening last night @sohohouse for @cheffalkner ‘s “One Night Only” dinner. SUUUUUUPER yummy with a great group of people. Thank you Chef for the invite and deliciousness!! #theclaxtons #ilovewhatido #luckygirl”

The posts have now filled up with comments expressing sadness over Burrell’s death.
“Commenting here in hopes the messages of condolences reach her loved ones. Wow😢 she was so good on Food Network,” wrote one fan.
“RIP Chef!!! You will be missed 😢 Godspeed 🙏,” another fan wrote.
“So sad to see you go, Loved watching you on Food Network,” wrote another.
