Rep. Mike Flood, a Republican, represents Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District. He joins LiveNOW’s Andy Mac to discuss the ongoing shutdown of the federal government. The shutdown comes after Congress deadlocked on a spending deal and marks the first government shutdown in nearly seven years.
We are learning that a number of federal agencies are planning to furlough a sizable portion of their staff during the shutdown period. Several parks, museums, and services are also affected.
The last shutdown was in Trump’s first term, from December 2018 to January 2019, lasting 35 days — the longest shutdown ever — causing airport delays and missed paydays for federal workers.
