Launched in 2017, CryptoPunks is a globally acknowledged non-fungible token collection that features a limited edition of 10,000 unique, 24×24 pixel art characters, considered one of the earliest examples of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Ethereum blockchain. The Punks NFT collection features algorithmically generated NFTs, with each punk having distinct features and traits.
The Punks NFT collection features 24×24 pixelated art images, with most being “punky” guys and girls, but also includes rarer types like zombies, apes, and even aliens. CryptoPunks were one of the first NFT projects on Ethereum and played a significant role in the rise of the NFT market. The NFT collection was previously created by the digital asset firm Larva Labs, but is now managed by the Infinite Node Foundation.
Factors Fueling Punks NFT Sales Today
The CryptoPunks NFT market surge is associated with recent top sales made today. Earlier this morning, an NFT trader acquired a punk non-fungible token collection for $906,371. Shortly after, another collector acquired six hoodie punks, raising the trait floor to 200 ETH. In response to the surge, the Punks NFT floor price has also slightly surged, reaching 50 ETH. The recent market surge indicates that the NFT market is back in business, and it’s likely to retest another bull run in the coming weeks or months.
