Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the fatal shooting of two Israeli Embassy staff members in Washington D.C. as a “horrific” antisemitic act, connecting it to the Oct. 7 attacks. The victims, a young couple reportedly soon to be engaged, were killed Wednesday evening after departing an event at the Capital Jewish Museum, according to police. LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall is reporting on the Israeli Prime Minister’s latest comments.
The two people killed were identified as Yaron Lischinsky, an Israeli citizen, and Sarah Milgrim, an American. “Sarah and Yaron were stolen from us,” said Ted Deutch, an organizer for the event and chief executive of the American Jewish Committee. “Moments before they were murdered, they were smiling, laughing and enjoying an event with colleagues and friends.”
Following the shooting, the suspect entered the museum and confessed to the act. The affidavit indicates that he was unarmed when apprehended. A number of other prominent Israeli officials have condemned the fatal shooting.
