A man was shot dead inside Union Station on Monday afternoon, prompting a large police response and road closures in the area as authorities investigated the incident.
The victim was found by officers “not conscious and not breathing,” and was later pronounced dead.
Amtrak released a statement saying the shooting occurred near the escalators leading to the U.S. Parking Garage on the upper level of Washington Union Station.
No injuries were reported among customers or employees, according to Amtrak.
