“How Did This Get Made?” Partners with MoveOn for Election Fundraiser
RSVP and interview requests at press@moveon.org
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On September 6, 2024 at 8 PM ET, comedians Jason Mantzoukas, June Diane Raphael, and Paul Scheer are coming together with special guest, Adam Scott, for a special livestream of an upcoming episode of their podcast, “How Did this Get Made?”—praised as “‘consistently hilarious”’ by The New York Times—to raise money for MoveOn Political Action’s efforts to elect Harris-Walz and Democrats and defeat right-wing extremism. Hosts will discuss the importance of protecting ourselves against harmful deceit at the hands of MAGA Republicans and at the hands of human-eating goblins in the infamous 1990 cult film “Troll 2.”
This virtual fundraiser, in collaboration with MoveOn Political Action, will support the organization’s 2024 Election Program that aims to persuade and mobilize voters in key districts to vote this November for Democrats and keep Donald Trump and the venomous Project 2025 agenda away from our lives and our government.
“Who would have thought that watching bad movies could also save democracy? Working with MoveOn again is a dream come true,” said host Paul Scheer.
“I’ve been forced to watch a lot of awful movies over the last 14 years, but with abortion on the ballot and so much more at stake in this election, I’ll happily sit through trolls … fighting each other? Falling in love? Whatever this movie is about … to help defend our rights and protect our futures,” said host June Diane Raphael.
“Sometimes, the world feels more wild and unpredictable than the movies we talk about on the podcast. And we talk about some pretty nuts movies! But this time, we’re not just going to laugh at the absurdity, we are taking our chaotic joy and doing something about it by supporting the critical work of MoveOn,” said host Jason Mantzoukas.
“I’m excited to jump back into HDTGM for a long-awaited episode about ‘Troll 2’ while also supporting the vital work MoveOn is doing to protect our rights and freedoms in this election,” said special guest Adam Scott.
“It is up to us to meet voters where they are and find creative and meaningful ways to connect with those who need an extra nudge to get to the ballot box. From now until November, we will continue using every platform available to remind voters that they have the power to stand up for our freedoms by voting for Vice President Harris and Democrats all down the ballot,” said MoveOn Political Action spokesperson Britt Jacovich.
U.S. viewers are able to purchase a ticket for the event DeFi Daily News, and for interview requests or to RSVP, please reach out to press@moveon.org.
