Headline inflation rose 0.6% in September, in line with estimates, but core CPI, which excludes food and energy, rose 0.3%, a touch hotter than the 0.2% economists expected. Year over year, headline CPI rose 3.7% and core rose 2.6%. The 8:30 hosts Julie Hyman, Jake Conley and Pras Subramanian break down the report as it crosses: energy prices re-accelerating with gasoline up 9.1% and fuel oil up 15.3% on the month, used car prices rising again, motor oil up 9.3%, and why prices are picking back up across almost every category, keeping pressure on the Federal Reserve.
