Universal & Blumhouse have revealed the official trailer for Soulm8te, a robot horror spin-off movie heading direct-to-VOD this summer. They finally set an official release for this – it was supposed to open in theaters earlier this year, but now it’s being dumped on VOD. You’ll understand why watching this trailer. It just doesn’t look good enough, and after the box office bomb of M3gan 2.0 they don’t want to take this risk. Soulm8te is described as a ’90s-style erotic thriller with a “new technological twist.” An engineer receives an Artificially Intelligent android to cope with the loss of his wife. Trying to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate. Starring Lily Sullivan, David Rysdahl, and Claudia Doumit, along with Arty Froushan, Elijah Cook, Emma Ramos, Mara Huf, Isabelle Bonfrer, Jon Tarcy, and Ossian Perret. It’s kind of a M3gan spin-off but not really connected, meant to be a standalone AI robot horror movie of its own. “Dolan has expertly blended tech paranoia with erotic thriller – which is just as fun as that sounds, but it also has more on its mind than you might think.” Enjoy.
