Hamas released a video on their Telegram channel featuring Ori Danino, one of the six hostages who were found executed in a tunnel in Rafah on August 31. The other victims were identified as Eden Yerushalmi, Alex Lobanov, Carmel Gat, Almog Sarusi, and Hersh Goldberg-Polin. The video was released on Tuesday, September 3.
The video starts with a montage of photos of the six hostages, followed by Danino introducing himself, revealing his name, where he is from, and the location of his abduction.
In the video, Danino describes the harsh living conditions they endured, saying, “Our living conditions are very difficult, there is no food, no water, no electricity,” and mentions the constant shooting and bombing.
Addressing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the war cabinet, Danino accuses them of failing the hostages on October 7 and attempting to kill them through unsuccessful rescue attempts. He questions their absence during and after the shooting incident on October 7. “Today you are trying to kill us one after another in failed rescue attempts,” he says.
Danino then appeals to the people of Israel, urging them to continue their efforts to bring the hostages back alive. “Keep doing everything until we get out of here alive. Get us out of here alive because at this pace no one will survive,” he says. He expresses his love for his family, telling them that he thinks of them every day. The video ends with Danino pleading, “People of Israel: Do not neglect us.”
The video concludes with a clip of a sand timer and the words “time is running out.” It also displays the messages “Exchange deal… freedom and life. Military pressure… death and failure.”
Danino, aged 25, reportedly helped other Nova attendees survive and escape during the October 7 Hamas attack. He was abducted by Hamas terrorists while trying to save more attendees. His partner, Liel, described him as a person who “excelled in everything he did” and “survived more than 300 days in captivity to return full of hope and faith.”
Einav Danino, Ori’s mother, called her son “a true warrior” who served in a significant position in the army. She revealed that they received signs of life from him almost every month during his three months in captivity, giving them hope that they would see him again. Einav described the moment they were informed of Danino’s death, around four o’clock in the morning, and how they couldn’t believe it had happened.
Einav also shared details about Ori’s actions on October 7, when he met Maya and Itay Regev at the party. Despite his friend’s attempts to dissuade him, Ori went back to save them when he realized they were in danger. Unfortunately, the terrorists shot at his car, and he was kidnapped. Throughout his captivity, his family hoped to see him again, but tragically, it ended differently.
