The Rising Star of Netflix’s Latest Film: Mason Thames
Netflix’s Incoming star, Mason Thames, recently opened up about his experiences with high school, social media, and his upcoming role in the live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon.
During an exclusive chat with TooFab at a house party-themed event for his film Incoming, Thames shared insights into his time on set, his views on social media, and his own high school experiences.
As a working actor, Thames had only attended traditional school up to freshman year before transitioning to online education. Starring in Incoming, a film centered around a group of high school freshmen, gave Thames a taste of what a real high school experience might have been like.
“I didn’t really have like an actual high school experience, so getting to do this movie is like the closest, wildest thing I have to it,” Thames shared. “If high school was as wild as this [Incoming], I’d be terrified.”
When asked about advice for freshmen, Thames joked, “I wouldn’t listen to my advice,” before adding, “But I would just say make friends and stick with them.”
Aside from Incoming, Thames is set to lead the live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon as Hiccup, a role he describes as a dream come true.
“Not a day goes by where I don’t think I’m so lucky, so fortunate, and grateful to have all of these opportunities and these awesome people around me,” Thames expressed.

“And yeah, How to Train Your Dragon, was some of the most fun I’ve ever had in my life,” Thames reflected. “I’d be walking around sometimes and I’d start running like Hiccup.”
Unlike many teenagers his age, Thames has remained relatively inactive on social media, despite having millions of followers on TikTok and Instagram. He acknowledges his fans’ requests for more posts but admits he is not very active on his accounts.
“I’ve been asleep for a while [on social media]. I do need to get back on it, maybe I’ll post today… We’ll see, we’ll see. But I’m going to try,” Thames mentioned.
“I’m not on it very much, but I love seeing reactions, especially from fans. Anytime I get to interact, I love it so much. I love all of them, it’s awesome, but I do need to be on it more,” Thames confessed.
Thames did recently post (or re-shared) Netflix’s post of the Incoming cast at their premiere to his Instagram story, a step towards being more active online.
Thames stars alongside Loren Gray, Raphael Alejandro, Ramon Reed, Bardia Seiri, Isabella Ferreira, Ali Gallo, and Thomas Barbusca in Incoming, now streaming on Netflix.
