We are gathering more information out of Mexico after the notorious Mexican cartel leader known as “El Mencho” was killed, throwing many parts of the nation into chaos. Attention is now focused on the effects on travelers and visitors to some of the nation’s favorite coastal destinations. LiveNOW’s Andy Mac is speaking with Emily Green, the Chief Correspondent for Reuters in Mexico and Central America as the death of “El Mencho” sparks continued fallout in nearly a dozen Mexican states due to a forceful reaction from the cartel.
According to reports from inside Mexico, “El Mencho” was killed during a shoot-out in his home state of Jalisco as the Mexican military attempted to capture him. Cartel members have now responded with violence across the country, blocking roads and setting fire to vehicles.
