After a great start to the season, the injuries have caught up to the LA Lakers roster. On Monday, JJ Redick spoke to the press in a post-practice interview, where he was asked about the status of core players from the starting lineup.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin shared a clip of the interview on his X account on Monday.

“Luka [Doncic] has a lower left leg contusion. He’ll be day-to-day. [Austin Reaves] participated partially iin practice today, he’ll be day-to-day. Rui [Hachimura] also day-to-day, no real update there and then [Deandre Ayton] was a full participant and I think he’s off the injured list. Gabe [Vincent] is still out,” Redick said.

According to the Lakers coach, the Purple and Gold will likely be without two of their core players in their next game. Luka Doncic last played in the Lakeshow’s 103-88 loss to the Clippers on Saturday, while Austin Reaves has been out for three games. Reaves last played in the Purple and Gold’s 132-119 loss to the Spurs on Dec. 10.

Deandre Ayton is expected to make a return after helping the Lakeshow secure a 116-114 win over the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 14 in his last game. Rui Hachimura, on the other hand, has missed one game, while Gabe Vincent has missed two.

The Lakers (19-8) have dropped from second place in the Western Conference standings to fourth place. They have worsened their record, having lost four in their last 10 games. The Lakeshow will face the Suns in their next matchup on Tuesday.

Lakers recall Bronny James after injury plague rules out core players

The LA Lakers have decided to recall Bronny James from his ongoing stint with the South Bay Lakers. Trevor Lane from the “Front Office Show” broke the news to the community through an X post on Sunday.

The Purple and Gold recalled their superstar LeBron James’ son immediately after announcing Luka Doncic’s leg injury, which the Slovenian international suffered in a loss to the Clippers on Saturday.

Bronny James has been a developmental project for the Lakeshow. The sophomore guard has failed to crack JJ Redick’s rotational lineup and was sent to the G League for another year to develop his skills and confidence.

However, the thinning of the guard depth on the roster has allowed James Jr. to get more minutes and impress the coach. Bronny James is averaging 1.9 points, 0.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game on 32.3% shooting.
