The NFT project Doodles has launched a secondary character collection named Doopies. Doodles founder Scott Martin, popularly known by his pseudonym, Burnt Toast, called Doopies a complementary layer of variation for the NFT collection.
According to a tweet by the official Doodles X account, the public minting for Doopies went live exclusively on the NFT marketplace Magic Eden on December 9. The minting schedule for the generative character collection spanned seven hours, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm EST. The activities carried out at intervals during the mint day included OG and dooplicator claim, whitelist, and public mint periods.
The Doopies collection comprises 25,000 NFTs. There are 20,000 collector cubes, each worth 1 Solana (SOL), and 5,000 hyper cubes, each worth 3 SOL. One SOL was worth roughly $137 at press time. The Doopie collector cubes give holders access to the full NFT set, comprising all species and evolution levels. There are also free claims for OGs and dooplicators.
On the other hand, the hyper cubes were made for rarity maxis and give holders guaranteed access to evolution level 3 and above. These cubes also have a 10x chance of releasing a 1/1 mega Doopie for holders.
Burnt Toast revealed that Doopies will be the last Doodles generative character collection to be put on-chain. The team behind the project will ensure there are only two of them: Doodles and Doopies. The race to launch the secondary character collection began two years ago, and the team has strived to make the NFTs live up to the original Doodles magic.
“Four years in, doodles have never had a secondary character collection. I was apprehensive about making one. I didn’t want another trivial spin-off. It needed to add to our world.. a complementary layer of variation, something with the right ingredients for gamification, something that speaks to new markets, and above all.. the art had to slap. doopies achieves this,” the Doodles founder explained.
Interestingly, Doodles has partnered with several NFT projects in the launch of Doopies. Some collections, including Phygitals, Azuki, DRiP, and even Solana Mobile, allowed their users to lock in Doopie cubes during the whitelist mint phase. To encourage more minting, the Doodles team also doubled the OG claim allocation.
“To the doodles community: you’ve been here since the start, this is for you. Thank you for sticking with us and believing in what we’re creating,” Burnt Toast added.
