The Los Angeles Rams improved to 8-2 on the season and took sole position of first place in the NFC West via a 21-19 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. 

Rams linebacker Jared Verse spoke with Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated and sent a bit of a warning to the rest of the NFL regarding what the club could accomplish through February 2026.

Jared Verse thinks Rams should’ve shut Seahawks out

“I don’t think we have any ceiling,” Verse said about the 2025 Rams. “I know a lot of people say that. I don’t know where ours is. We had a good game [Sunday]. We held them to a lot of field goals, but we could’ve gotten off the field. We could’ve avoided all that. The touchdown they had, we could’ve avoided that. There are things we could’ve done to stop them. I don’t think there’s no ceiling. We could have shut them out completely, beat them 21-zip.”

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford began Sunday as the betting favorite to claim the MVP Award for this season. Against the Seahawks, he completed 15-of-28 attempts for just 130 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. That said, the Los Angeles defense had Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold seeing “ghosts,” as the hosts intercepted Darnold on four occasions. 

With 1:41 remaining in regulation, the Seahawks started an offensive drive at their own one-yard line. They ultimately had to settle for attempting a 61-yard field goal as time expired, which went wide and fell short. 

Only one stat really matters to Rams players this fall

“You run that ball, it will get stopped,” Verse added about the defensive effort produced by the Rams against the Seahawks. “You pass it, we will get in your face. They were only able to get, what, 50 yards with the time they had left? They were able to get it off quick, so we wouldn’t get sacks, but all that matters is we were able to pull off the win. That’s all that matters to us.” 

The red-hot Rams next host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-4) for a “Sunday Night Football” matchup on Nov. 23. As of Monday morning, ESPN BET had Los Angeles as a 6.5-point favorite for that game.
