The WWE Women’s Championship has felt like an afterthought since it changed hands at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLI. Jade Cargill has gone over 100 days without defending the title once, but that is expected to change as she defends it against Jordynne Grace on the February 13 episode of SmackDown.
The WWE Women’s Title will be defended at WrestleMania 42, with either Liv Morgan or the winner of the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match challenging for the title. Here are four possible matches that could happen at WrestleMania 42 for the Women’s Title.
Thanks for the submission!
4. Jade Cargill vs. Rhea Ripley
Rhea Ripley recently qualified for the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match by defeating Lyra Valkyria and Ivy Nile in a qualifier on RAW. The Nightmare is automatically one of the favorites in the match, and could go on to win it.
If Liv Morgan opts to challenge for the Women’s World Championship and Jade Cargill remains the WWE Women’s Champion heading into the Show of Shows, we could witness a dream match between Mami and The Storm in Las Vegas.
3. Jordynne Grace vs. Jade Cargill
If Grace doesn’t become the champion on the February 13 episode of SmackDown, she could earn another shot at the title by qualifying for and winning the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match. This way, we could get a rematch between the two while Grace goes on a quest to prove herself before she can claim the title.
In all likelihood, the storyline could end with Grace finally dethroning Cargill at the Grandest Stage of Them All in April.
2. Jade Cargill vs. Tiffany Stratton
Tiffany Stratton returned to WWE as part of the Women’s Royal Rumble Match, finishing as the runner-up. It is unlikely that the creative team will not revisit her feud with Jade Cargill, given the fact that the former AEW star put her out of action as part of the storyline.
With that in mind, Stratton could win the Elimination Chamber and earn a rematch for the Women’s Title at WrestleMania 42. She could then go on to beat Jade Cargill for the championship and exact revenge for her knee injury at the Show of Shows.
1. Jade Cargill vs. Bianca Belair
Fans have not seen Bianca Belair since Evolution 2025, when she was the special guest referee for the match between Naomi and Jade Cargill. The EST of WWE has been out of action since WrestleMania 41, when she injured her fingers.
The former Women’s Champion is sorely missed on SmackDown, and there is no word on her return just yet. That said, she could make her comeback to win the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match and punch her ticket to WrestleMania. Belair could then go on to challenge her former tag team partner in Las Vegas for the Women’s Title.
After so much time away, she could be put over and win the new WWE Women’s Championship for the first time in her career. However, this angle depends on Belair being fit enough to return to action ahead of the Show of Shows.
