Rob Edwards saluted Wolves’ “quality and desire” following their hard-earned point against Manchester United.

The Premier League’s bottom side halted their run of 11 straight defeats with a spirited display at Old Trafford.

Ladislav Krejci, whose deflection helped Joshua Zirkzee break the deadlock, atoned for his misfortune with a neat header to earn the visitors a share of the spoils.

It represented only Wolves’ third point of the season, and first since Edwards replaced Vitor Pereira in the Molineux dugout last month.

“At least, we take something from the game,” the Wolves boss told Sky Sports. “We’ve had a few good performances – especially away from home – and not got the results, so it’s progress. [It’s] nice to take a point, it’s the least we deserved tonight.

“We wanted to win the game. The away games we’ve had, we should’ve taken more, but we haven’t. We can take belief and confidence. The challenge now is to do that at home.

“We had a good plan, and we really believed. To go 1-0 down here is difficult, but we kept fighting, we deserved the goal at the end of the first half.

“Second half, they probably had more of the possession. We almost gifted them one and they had the offside goal. We still had a chance in the second half, so we could’ve taken more from the game, but the performance level, the quality and desire were there from the players.

“The chances were there, but we showed good moments of control, took the ball. You can’t come here and just defend, so there was a lot to like about the performance.”

Wolves’ points-per-game ratio of 0.76 in 2025 (29 points in 38 games) is the worst by a team in a full year of Premier League football since Huddersfield Town in 2018 (23 in 37 games, 0.62).

And they are only the second side in top-flight history to go 19 matches from the start of a season without winning, after Bolton Wanderers in 1902-03.

Wolves are also the first side to concede 40 or more goals at the halfway stage in consecutive Premier League seasons (42 in 2024-25, 40 in 2025-26). Yet, Edwards believes his side can head into 2026 with momentum to build on.

“We’ve got three points all season, it’s been really difficult so far,” he added. “We’ve showed character, got [a goal] back against Arsenal and Liverpool and tonight, again, showed good character and quality.

“When I watch it back, maybe I’ll be frustrated we’ve not taken more, but the lads are working hard – you can see that.

“You need results for the belief and buy-in. The lads are with us and on board, but there’s nothing like results to get everyone on board.

“They are fighting; we don’t look like a team with only three points, but the reality is that’s where we are. [We must] keep continuing to build, we’re doing the right things.”
